Statistics show that 80-90% of people find websites through search engines and currently over 350 million searches are performed every day. Think of the possibilities….
Has anybody used this, or heard anything about it? Is it used widely in industry? Personally I had recommended manual optimization before we forked over any dough but I a bit skeptical - some of the engines i dont think are worth pot after lookin at some other threads on this board. Thanks for your help everyone!

I cannot find a bean of information regarding the company doing this. Though judging from the email which may or may not have been spam(though it sounds like a spam mailing to me), it sounds like an avoid at all costs.
When you are guaranteed a top 3 position in the engines mentioned above it sounds like all they do is submit to the worlds worst directory Looksmart, Looksmart has a few partnerships with other engines such as yahooUK, MSN and a couple others to provide pay per click advertising on thses engines. Once the money dries up (at 15 cents per click) so does your listing.
Another negative is the lack of control a webmaster has over the search phrases for which they are paying for. You may want the phrase "professional web hosting" and yet they will throw you as #1 for "free web hosting" Now you are paying for 100s of clicks for which the user is not at all interested in what you are selling...they are not buying they want FREE!
Avoid this company, avoid Looksmart, prepare your pages for GOOGLE, and you will allready be 10 fold ahead of what this company could ever do for you and it will not cost you a dime.

If they can get you a top 3 then they, most likely, use shady seo practices and would get you banned.
Avoid at all costs!

Also for £500 we will get you a banner add on Excite for a whole year??
They do sound like a very dodgy business, you could be quite easily duped by them if you didn't know youre stuff.
