How to build your own search engine

I'm a HUGE web surfer, but when I ue google or yahoo, I sometimes can't find the sites I'm looking for, and I am sick of waiting for someone to build better search engine, and when I try to find out how to make one myself, I can't find a website that has answers. does anybody here know? or atleast can anybody here guide me to a link of a place that does?

currently, I only have a couple hundred, but I'm only looking to make something small. I don't want to cover ALL types of websites, only a select few. A small genre. I was thinking maybe just a search engine that ONLY searches movie/video websites (I.E. Youtube, Metacafe, IMDB.... etc.). Something for aspiring filmakers like myself.

I doubt I could make one better than google if my life depended on it. I am only looking to make something very small at first, and hopefully get it to grow as time goes on.

just a couple hundred dollars, but if I need more, I can always save up and wait 'till I have enough to make one.

You will probably have a hard time finding anything. Most scripts are designed to spider your own sites, not those you mention. Your best bet may be to hire somebody to do it for you, but a couple hundred will probably only get the coder just past his first cup of coffee.
