    MAMP question

    Hey Guys,
    I decided to learn html and php. My brilliant cousin told me not to bother paying to take an online course, rather, do it myself... he told me to download MAMP and start with html before moving on to php. So, I have MAMP, read a bunch of stuff on this forum as to how to get started, and tried it out. Problem is, my webpage looks like this;

    <html>
    <head>
    <title>My First Page
    </title>
    </head>
    <body>
    This is my first webpage
    </body>
    </html>

    etc... when I say it looks like this, I mean it looks exactly like that.... I'm sure I'm missing something really simple, and I've asked my cousin, however, he claims its a mac issue and he never uses macs.... so... if anyone out there could help me out, that would be swell....

    Re: MAMP question

    What kind of file did you save it as?

    Do you have a URL? ( be sure to uncheck the box which asks if you would like URLS parsed)

    Re: MAMP question

    I've used text editor (which is like the mac version of notepad) and saved the file as an html. (as directed in the tutorial).
    I'm using firefox as a web browser if that makes a difference.....

    Do you have a host that you can upload it to? If not upload it in your next post here as an attachment.

    Re: MAMP question

    I think I have it actually... after further inspection, the text program I'm using (apple's text edit) has it's own html editor built into the background.... so it was taking what I had typed and adding the tags around it to make it the body of the html.
    So, if anyone else comes across this issue, under preferences in the text edit program
    - open and save
    - html saving options
    - styling (turn to No CSS)

    Thanks for all your help
