Strange website opening. Where's the problem?
Hi,
I've a website built with html, php and mysql.
Unfortunately the home page opens with some problem and every time an user visit it for the first time (then without cached content) the layout opens distorted with and excessive width and only after 2-3 seconds regularizes itself to the correct width.
The problem is more evident with a slow Internet connection or browsers like Opera and IE. Probably the "2-3 seconds" delay is due to the time for the images loading, but I suppose that the basic problem is in the HTML code or formatting....
This is the url:

Any help is very appreciated.
Thanks and regards.

Re: Strange website opening. Where's the problem?
What browser are you using? Your website displays fine for me in Firefox.
I would suggest that you first try fixing your validation errors. Perhaps that will fix the problem for you. If not, post a screen shot of what you're seeing. Someone may be able to offer some ideas on how to fix it.Music Around The World - Collecting tips, trade

Re: Strange website opening. Where's the problem?
Hi,
I've uploaded a video of the strange effect here:
http://www.internationaltraders.it/home.avi
I see the problem on my pc only with Opera (no problem with Firefox and IE), but some users of my website say that see the problem on their pc with IE and Firefox too. Maybe is due to the way the rendering engine interprets the page code??
Thank you for any answer.

I notice you have not yet fixed the errors that VJ pointed out.

Re: Strange website opening. Where's the problem?
I've just fixed the "structural" errors and the validator show me now only "non SGML character" errors.
Sincerely I don't know how to fix these last errors because the text of news is made by OpenOffice. On an italian forum some time ago was told me that were "negligible" errors. Despite this I don't know if these last errors can have a role in my problem.
Thanks again.

Re: Strange website opening. Where's the problem?
I got the delay on ie. I am surprised the validator did not suggest to put height and width on the image tags but it may help a bit.
It would also help to optimize some of the images, especially the logo.

Re: Strange website opening. Where's the problem?
I've just put the width and height for each image. Still nothing.
I've also "frozen" the problem in this image:

I'll keep on mind for the future your tip about image optimization. I think that my problem will remain a mistery, maybe the mistake is in css and in the order of class and stiles definitions.
In every case thank you for your help.
